Technical Assistance Negotiated Grant

The Alamo Area Library System also helps in the area of Technology to its area libraries.  This is funded through the TANG Grant.

TANG stands for Technical Assistance Negotiated Grant, which is federally funded through the Institute of Museum and Library Services.  It is administered by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.

This grant allows AALS the ability to help our area public libraries regarding technical issues and technology.  These services support the goals of encouraging and assisting libraries to become more self sustainable, and to use technology to serve the information needs to their communities.

Some examples of how the AALS Consultant can help area libraries, but not limited to are as follows:

  1. Provide onsite and remote assistance for both public access and staff related PC issues.
  2. Provide assistance with Server, Network, Printing, Internet related problems, and technology related issues.
  3. Provide specifications for Computers, hardware, software, networking equipment, and other IT/Technical equipment.
  4. Provide training in areas such as software applications, networking, wireless technology, Plinkit, security, and many others.
